Alphafactor Invitational 2008The Alpha Factor Invitational competition was held at Wiltshire School of Gymnastics in Melksham on September 12th, 13th and 14th 2008. This is a national event for girls and has both individual and team medals up for grabs. A long way from home but very prestigious! Everyone was so excited this competition is so friendly, and the children fit into the event really well. Last year we were third as a team, so what would this year hold? It was hard to tell; with injuries and children having left the club perhaps it was wishful thinking?
Everyone had worked hard in the gym; some had new moves, and for some it was their first National Competition, we were so looking forward to it. Friday saw Caroline , Vicky and Melissa in the Level 3 and Level 4 categories. They all competed in style. Sticking on beam and starting the RGC machine off with flying colours. Caroline, well done, you came in 5th position overall in level 3 with a massive score of 12.90 on floor. You picked up 2 ribbons for placing 5th in class and 2nd on floor. Well done at your first National. X Vicky again stuck on beam; that Tuck back didn’t move, and you had a a really good floor, finishing in7th position overall. Melissa you played our team Joker on the floor (the jokers score is doubled and we have one on each piece in each level), this adds to the drama of the competition and is so much fun. It's not fun to pick who the jokers are though. What a lovely floor routine you did, once again a clean routine on beam, well done meme. Saturday saw Tyla and Lauren Hearfield compete; Lauren in age and Tyla at level 4 10/11. Some very stiff competition here, but girls you were amazing and showed true grit and team spirit. I’m very proud of you both! Lauren and Tyla were both clean on beam again!! All that work was worth while in the gym. Sunday saw Rebecca and Lottie chasing the medals; a good start was made in warm up. Rebecca was placed 6th in Level 2, with a 2nd overall on bars; well done Beki, x Overall girls, a great competition with a few surprises along the way from Judges and gymnasts, but another great Alphafactor. Who will be going next year to represent RGC? More work in the gym needed, though, to get those extra points!! The scores will go onto the results page and there are photos in the galleries. Report |
