September News Letter 2011
Boys Section This section is growing and going from strength to strength, thanks to Brendan and Chris. The Boys are in for a treat this year, with some new Competitions, the first of which to be held at Redcar on the 29th October 2011 this is a Tees Valley Competition and hopefully a great one, look out for your entry letters.
The Boys section is changing its leotards to new ones, plain turquoise, Milano have stopped making the one we use so we have no choice, I think the new colours look smart, if you wish to order new kit please see one of the coaches the New Kit - Leotard and Shorts is £35. The boys should also buy a new t-shirt to spectator in at comps, these are £10 EACH, and can also be ordered from RGC, please note all Boys should have new kit for the new competition year in 2012.
Dance as you are all aware Dance for the Squads is a huge part, some 50% of the floor and beam totals are dependent on the dance aspect, please can you make sure your dance fee is paid at the beginning of the month.
BALLET BAR AND MIRRORS A huge thank you to Steve Briggs for taking part in the Redcar Half Marathon, he raised enough to purchase the Ballet Bars. We just have to find a way of keeping their hands off the mirrors, thank you Steve, (Alice’s Dad). All the children will benefit with them, Tatyana is ecstatic!!!
Open week 26th September – 2nd October
The Open week is the time for you to stay and watch your children we are aware some of you would want to watch on a more regular basis, but space is a major issue, this week you are more than welcome to come into gym buy a coffee and watch your son/daughter, I am sure you will see a big difference in their skills, why not bring family and friends.
In October the Elite Girls and Coaches are off to Maryland for a training trip with our friends at Clarks Gymnastics at Maryland, the gym will continue to run, this will only apply to the Elite section and General Squad, watch your email “in box” for details and times below

Christmas Shop The Gym Christmas shop will be open from 1st October 2011, purchases of new kit, items for stocking fillers and leotards can be bought on the day, orders can also be taken.
Handguards Please can parents check that their gymnasts wrist bands get washed on a regular basis, they stink!, ha ha, but that’s the only way to put it, can you also check their hand guards still fit and are in good condition, if they are torn or broken they should be replaced, failure to do this could result in an accident!, when they break during a routine, my advice is have two pairs one to wear in and one to wear so the gymnast is never without a comfortable pair.
Recreational Sections Thank you for your continued support, please pay for your badges as soon as you get the slip, it is really important for your son/daughter to attend the badge presentations evenings they love to see their parents/family see them get their awards.
Kit, all children are eligible to purchase club kit, except for the club girls & boys leotards. The colour hoodie for the recreational children is Red.
CLUB COMPETITION, 26/27th November
Everyone in the gym is allowed to enter, it is compulsory for the Squads, please fill in the entry form attached asap, to get a place, put the date in your diary, and turn up and watch your gymnast.
Squads
Squads are run by invitation only; Children for these squads are selected for their ability, to maybe compete.
It is not a certainty that if selected for one squad you will stay, the place depends on, if you can sustain the work in the squad you are in, your commitment to that squad and your attendance.
Now and again we may feel a child is progressing and we may move them to a more difficult level. This is an individual basis and only when the child is ready.
I.E. not if their friends have moved, nothing would be worse than to move a child to a level she/he can’t cope with. This can also happen the other way a child may be more suited to a totally different squad, not staying in elite but moving to general squad or Floor and Vault Squad.
Please be supportive when watching in the gym we work extremely hard! and give 100% to the children, some coaches give 40+ hours and some also work full time, it is important that your children here you supporting us!! and of course them! negative comments have no place at Redcar Gym Club
If you, have any enquiries, or wish to contact us please feel free we will be only too happy to help.
Thank you for your support, if you feel like you could help in any way please feel free to ask, the more the merrier, we really need help with the Tuesday Recreational Sessions, all we ask is that you are willing, we will train you.
