Welcome to the latest edition of the Gym News.
There has been a lot happening over the summer, the gym has been very busy with camps, extra training and visits from other clubs as well as our club visiting others.
Email/Group Text
We are trying out a new system of contact for all the squads; this is to enable all the Gymnasts and parents to get all the latest information and changes.
Memberships are now due, thank you to all the Elite parents and Recreational sections that have paid.
Congratulations to Marie McLeod, and Sheerie Dunn who have passed their Regional Judging exams, and to Donna Jones and Sheerie Dunn for passing their Level 2 WA coaching.
Sue Cook, Justine Fowler and Di R, have attended the Second Excel Clinic with Nic Ruddock the junior National Coach, the clinic is amazing and we look forward to the next one.
Hair, Once again can I remind parents hair should be tied up, shoulder length hair should be doubled under, can we also ask parents to drop off and go, we cannot sometimes start the session as coaches can’t park. Parking on the forecourt is strictly for Coaches. Thank you
A big thank you to all who have supported the tumbling, we can see a huge improvement.
America Oct 17th 2011
There are still some outstanding paperwork items from some of you, please help me to finish all the admin for the trip, times of training sessions @ RGC will follow for this week.
Summer Camps
Summer Camps this year have been well supported, however some were disappointed not to get a place, we can take deposits for Camps throughout the year, and if you want to make sure your gymnast gets a place.
Elite Camp 2011, the girls we given leotard as their free gift this year, you can see they look very smart in the rainbow Leos.
Injury
There are quite a few Gymnasts with supports on in gym at the moment, please note it is not beneficial for all these items unless it is recommended. Joints tend to become weaker not stronger with the supports
South DURHAM CAMP,
Some of the Elite girls were selected to attend the above camp; the girls travelled to South Durham every day for an intense Elite Camp, the girls did very well learning a whole host of skills, or improving on those they had.
General Squad News
The Girls in the General Squad are working hard towards their Regional Grades, A, DVD is underway of the routines for the gymnasts to have at home, so they can see the correct shapes and give them a good idea of what is expected, we hope to have them with you ASAP
Please note there is a pass mark for grades and the children must be able to do all the skills to take part, there will be a control comp to access the entry before the actual competition. A fail at Control would mean no Grades
The Squad has been rearranged to benefit all the gymnasts in the Squad, the ratio to coach is excellent and we should see some good results, watch out for the new skills!
Can GS parent please see Carole at the beginning of the session with any concerns, or enquiries as after the session it is sometimes very busy.
Children are still turning up late for sessions, please be prompt!!
Floor and Vault
Floor and Vault section is a huge success with all the children in it, learning new skills most have new floor routines, The Aim of the Floor &Vault squad is to enter Regional General Competitions , at a lower level, it is important that these gymnasts learn slowly , they are so enthusiastic and a pleasure to coach.
Congrats to all the F & V squad, with their new skills over summer.
We are hoping to change our F & V leotard this year, ready for the new competition season, we will keep you informed.
