Report from National Grades, Birmingham April 16th, 17th 2011
Well we couldn’t have expected better the Redcar girls made the Finals.
Jessie Lacson and Lauren Hearfield made the Nationals to represent the REGION!
It was a lovely weekend, the weather was warm and the sun shone!
First up was Jessie in National Grade 8, I was pleased that Jess had made the team she had worked so hard, and not doing Compulsory grades she needed a boost. Coming 3rd in the Region she was going to have to work to make her scores count on the team.
March on and introduction was interesting as they were lost and missed the National Anthem, running on in the nick of time, to hear their names called out.
Tyla Earl made the team as reserve.
First up was vault this was going to be a fast competition, warm up compete usually is, vault was first, a couple of vaults and then a major major fall, Jessie slipped and nearly wiped the vault and herself out, oh my word how she didn’t injure herself more I will never know, at this point I wondered if Jess could carry on, what strength she showed going on to perform too perfect vaults, Bars went well with an unexpected fall on beam on a SPLIT jump woops Jessie! As always not concentrating on the easy skills cost her, and the team. Floor was lovely a wobble on her free leg spin, but tumbles were delightful her forte, for sure. Well done Jess!
Next was Lauren, Nat Grade 6, this we thought was going to be interesting, as always Lauren competed very well taking the round in her stride a Clean competition for Lauren but some stamina & dance work needed for Lauren, Bars went well and beam as usual for Lauren was stuck, shame she was on her own with no team, but Lauren always gets on with the job.
Well done to the Team in National 8, Stevie Selby and Alice Bowler (Kendal). Abigail Miles, (CONga) and reserve Tyla Earl (Redcar) team 8th
YOU all worked so hard and were a pleasure to go around with, well done girls, looking forward to the coming comps, now, just one round of Grades to go at Compulsory Grades this coming weekend in Birmingham,
Good luck Mae and Hannah!
