Report from Bill Slater Championships, 2010
Well; training on Friday had been interesting! Not too sure what the girls were going to do at the competition, we could only wait. They came out at introduction with a whole host of different skills to wave at the audience.
I have to say that this method does quicken the introduction time and speeds up the whole competition. The gymnasts love it too, and it also keeps the crowd interested.
We warmed up on Bars first; this went ok, but we knew marks wouldn’t be high with not enough difficulty, and a very young team. The Bars went well; poor Hannah had such a sore hand, but she managed to work through. Vault went well with Lauren, Vicky, Jess and Tilly all competing their Tzukahara vaults. The team were happy and sailed around; and thanks to the supporters, because the competition was a quiet one, we certainly made some noise.
Thanks to Vicky for being a great team captain and encouraging all the girls to perform well and talking them around when they felt down.

The team placed in 16th place; a great result, with Lauren Hearfield finishing in 24th in the AA.
Well done girls.
