Recreation/Club Level of the Floor and Vault Competitions 28th March 2010

A lovely bright start saw a convoy of cars leave the gym for Biddick, near Washington. The drive was quiet and the roads clear so we made good time.

Finding the entrance to the Gym was another matter; it wasn’t signposted and people were running around outside shouting ‘how do you get in’, ha ha. In the end we found our way in.

The Boys had already started to compete when we arrived, doing a fine job, looking smart and professional a good start for Redcar Gym Club. Well done to the Medal winners, your cheeky faces were beaming we are so proud of you all.  Michael Tosdevin and Oliver Livingstone won Golds, Joseph Ellerby a Bronze and Christopher Martin in 5th.

The girls were slightly worried as some had never vaulted on the old style leggy horse!, but they soon settled down. The U12s were first up and after a lengthy warm up they started on floor. Most of the U12s were from the newly formed Floor and Vault Squad out in their new stunning Purple leotards and Purple hoodies. They all turned up looking so smart with glitter and neat hair, what a great bunch they were. They were also team mates for Louise Bond from the General Squad, who looked so neat, and her vault was amazing. It was a well earned 4th for Louise, well done Lou Lou.  Team Gold for the B team; all winners in our eyes.

The U10 section of the Recreation competition was huge with Laura Ankers (General Squad) finishing in 7th place. Wow; Laura, amazing result with over 60 children in it, well done. The Floor and Vault section worked amazingly hard, helped by Ellie & Lucy from General Squad they finished and had a great competition.

The U14 was again all Floor and Vault Squad. What lovely ladies they were, all beaming and so pleased to compete. Well done girls, with Helen Gawthorpe in 4th Place with Champion Sophie Gilmour taking the Gold for Redcar, WOW!!! We didn’t expect this, and Lauren Mudd finished in 7th place, well done.

Tammy Hewitt our oldie senior, after injuring your ankle you worked amazingly to come in 6th Position well done girl.

Another great result for Redcar, and I’m so proud of you all. The floor and vault crew were brilliant; new floors and competing in just 4 weeks, wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!
