February NewsWe are now well into the new year, and the competition season will be starting soon. The calendar has now been updated with dates for most of the competitions for the year, as well as the summer school dates and dates for some of the fund raisers we are planning. The competition season begins on 14th February with the traditional opener Sport For All. This is usually the first event our gymnasts compete at, and so your support is always welcome. On 8th March, we are hosting the competition level of the regional Floor and Vault competition. we would welcome offers of help, both for the day and also for the Friday morning before the event to help us clean and tidy the gym. Although the summer school dates are now set, the exact format and cost are yet to be decided. Apart from the need for our ocaches to book holiday for the week, we always have problems with the numbers of gymnasts and the skill mix. We are therefore thinking through the best way to offer the week. More details soon. We are hopeful that we will be putting in our planning application for the new gym building very soon, we have only a site investigation to complete. Dana Murray, one of our senior gymnasts, has qualified for the British team for the Maccabiah Games in Israel in July. We are busy fundraising for her funds and she is beginning her serious training for the event. A real feather in our caps and a special opportunity for Dana. If you want to get involved in helping the club, and there fore your children, please come along to the Friends group meeting to be held in the Claxton Hotel on Monday 9th February at 6pm. The Friends are an essential support to the club, without which we can't operate.
