This is what our proposed new gym building on the Rye hills school site should look like.  We have provisional agreement on use of the site and the detailed plans are underway.  We have design approval from British Gymnastics and from Sport england.  We will be undertaking a site investigation as soon as we get a site services plan from the authority, prior to applying for full planning permission.  Below is a layout diagram of the building (the interior layout of the main hall has changed slightly, but the overall design is correct).

Plan of the building

March 2009.  We have now settled on the final location for the new building.  The image below shows the outline of the building superimposed upon the school field.  We have moved the building slightly further away from the surrounding homes.  We have now undertaken a site investigation, and providing the results are acceptable we will be applying for formal planning permission in the next few weeks.  We are already in formal negotiation with the council over use of the land.

Site InvestigationFinal Location

May 2009.  The results of the site investigation were satisfactory, and so we are going ahead with the full planning application.  We hope to submit the application by 1st June and to have a result by the end of the summer.

15th October 2009.  We finally have our planning permission for the new building.  We are now working on the detailed business plan and also on our search for funding.  we have been meeting with a number of organisations who can help us.  we would especially like to thank the Meadow well-Connected group in north tyneside, who gave us advice (http://www.meadowwellconnected.org.uk/) and the Terra Nostra Project (http://www.terra-nostra.org.uk/) based there for their support over green energy matters.

There is nothing else like this building in the whole of the Tees Valley area.  There will be full facilities for both womens and mens artistic gymnastics, tumbling, and basic trampoline as well as meeting areas and dance facilities.  We would be interested in hearing from any other organisations who may be interested in using the facilities.

We need all the support we can get if we are to realise our dream.  Please support us by buying a brick for the new building or using our Buy At shop.  see the links at the bottom of the page.  We are always interested in discussing the possibility of commercial support, either financially or in kind.
