| Lisa Grayson has been our most famous competition gymnast so far. | | | Redcar schoolgirl Lisa joined us in the 1980's, and was coached by our senior coach Jack Grey. Lisa soon showed her abilities and with constant hard work, and dedicated support from Jack, gained selection for the national team. Gymnastics at the highest level is time consuming and expensive, but fortunately for Lisa and Jack ICI Chemicals and Polymers came up with a sponsorship package helping them to carry on training and competing. In the run up to the 1988 Olympics, Lisa made headlines for her performances during the British team selection competitions. Despite injury, Lisa was impressive enough to be named as team reserve for Seoul. Lisa continued her impressive showings, and is still a source of inspiration for some of our current team members today. | | |
During her career, Lisa won a wide variety of honours: County Champion, North Eastern Champion, competed in the Youth Olympics in Belgium, the World Championships on the beam, and others. Lisa now lives in the USA where she coaches gymnastics.
